Approche de la circulation residuelle en Baie de Seine ArchiMer
Lehir, P; Salomon, J; Leprovost, C; Chabertd'Hieres, G; Mauvais, J.
By taking into account salinity measurements and consequently mean residence time, current measurements, tidal computation with a 2-D model and wind induced currents provided by a 3-D model, a global diagram of residual flow in Seine Bay is given. Main patterns are exhibited: density currents in the eastern part of the bay, off the Seine Estuary, wind induced circulation, especially along the coast and over the Channels, and tidal residual patterns induced by topography.

Atlas thématique de l'environnement marin en baie de Saint-Brieuc (Côtes-d'Armor) ArchiMer
Augris, Claude; Hamon, Dominique.
This atlas presents in a synthetic form the hydrodynamical, geological and biological characteristics of one of the most studied region of the French littoral. Geologic and geophysical data of the Saint-Brieuc Bay show that the deep basement consists of pre-palaeozoic or palaeozoic sedimentary series in the centre of the Bay, whereas metamorphic and magmatic formations are dominant in coastal regions. The location of superficial sediments in the Bay, is mainly due to marine currents. A granulometric gradient, from very fine to coarse sediments, appears in two directions: from the coast towards the high sea, and from the west to the east. Rocky substrates disrupt the sediment distribution, with, most of the time, a concentration of coarse sediments near the...

El fondo marino OceanDocs
Parker, G.; Paterlini, M.C.; Violante, R..
A synthesis is given of the present knowledge of the topographic and sediment characters of the sea floor of the Argentine Sea. After considering some general characters of passive continental margins the Argentine characteristics are described. Various 'physiographic provinces' are differentiated. The corresponding to the continental shelf is the most extensive on its several 'terraces' associated with Plio-Pleistocene sea level changes. Soft sediments are dominant, mainly being composed of sand with minor but varied quantities of shells and mud. Harder bottoms, composed of loose gravel and rocky outcrops are also present. The information presented here is not sufficient for evaluating the natural resources of the Argentine Sea or for solving sovereignty...

Modele tridimensionnel de circulation et de dispersion ArchiMer
Thouvenin, Benedicte; Salomon, J.
Bottom topography, coastal morphology and density variations are the three factors influencing marine current flow in Seine Bay. Numerical modeling allows the study of this tridimensional structure.

SAR Imaging Features of Shallow Water Bathymetry ArchiMer
Pivaev, P. D.; Kudryavtsev, V. N.; Balashova, E. A.; Chapron, Bertrand.
Purpose. The aim of the article is to study manifestations of the underwater topography features in the northern part of the White Sea in the images made by the spaceborn synthetic aperture radars (SAR) Sentinel-1A, Sentinel-1B. Methods and Results. In the SAR images, the bottom features are revealed as bright and dark brightness anomalies. The anomalies were observed at the wind speed ranging from 2.6 to 10.8 m/s, and became reverse (bright anomalies turned dark and vice versa), when a tidal current changed its direction. It is shown that the observed SAR imagery contrasts correlate to divergence of a current formed by interaction of a tidal flow with the bottom topography inhomogeneities. The simulated SAR contrasts agree with the observations, and...
